From A Galaxy Far Far Away/ A Royal Mail Sorting Office in Sheffield

As my first proper blog post, I thought I should choose something that would set the tone of things to come, to give you beautiful people an idea of what's ahead. I didn't even have to think because the answer fell out of the sky from a galaxy far far away and into my postbox ... OK, it fell from the postie's mailbag into a university accommodation office in Sheffield, but let's not worry ourselves with the technicalities.

A few weeks ago in a supermarket queue I spotted a man wearing some very cool Vans Slip-Ons, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope ones to be precise. I pointed enthusiastically as silently as I could, mouthing "LOOK AT THAT DUDE'S SHOES" to my boyfriend ... what must other nearby customers have thought?! Anyway, he looked, he saw but he didn't share my enthusiasm. Anyway, I soon forgot about them and didn't bother to look online for a similar pair as I presumed that: a) they wouldn't do them in women's sizes and b) they'd be hella expensive. To cut a long story short, I recently saw a female classmate wearing the same pair, got talking and turns out she found them for TWENTY QUID so naturally I got home and ordered them straight away. The stockist that had them for £19.99 reduced from £50 had sold out in my size (UK 5) so I did what any desperate gal would do and turned to my old buddy old pal eBay, and within 10 minutes had found myself a pair of brand spankers for just £7 more from seller 4feetshoes.com - the trainers are available from their eBay store for £27.99 (+£1.99 p&p).

The shoes arrived 3 working days after the order was placed, fully tracked, and are far more glorious than the provided photos give them justice. The design of everything from the box to the Star Wars logo printed tissue paper used to wrap the shoes has obviously been carefully considered, with the box itself having an attractive graphic design featuring the Star Wars logo, the key characters that we all know and love and Death Star. I know those parts aren't wearable but pretty cool, hey?

Being someone that is quite particular about things matching, I thought it would bother me that the design on each shoe is different, but it really doesn't; I am willing to overlook the different designs on each shoe because they're pretty darn cool. The graphics are so stunning too, really bright and clear, conveying an almost retro vibe. I almost don't even want to wear them for fear of ruining them ... but oh I really do.

At UK size 5.5, the fit of these beauties is perfect. Having said that, I usually take a size 5 and so i'd definitely recommend going a half step up if you're planning to purchase a pair as otherwise they'd be less slip-on and more wrestle-on.

All in all, I'm extremely happy with these shoes and with the service provided by the seller that I bought them from. Definitely a wardrobe must have for all padawans, Jedi masters and full time cool kidults alike.

May the force be with you!
Jess
